Functional Fitness
Buena Vida Fitness Centre offers a fitness program that is commonly known by various different names: functional fitness, high intensity interval training, and Crossfit™, among others.
Functional fitness is a strength and conditioning system built on constantly varied exercise routines executed at high intensity. The exercises utilize natural movements to build whole body fitness; running, jumping, climbing, throwing, pushing, pulling and lifting.
This program has already been adopted by professional sports teams, elite athletes, college athletic departments and military special forces as the most effective and efficient physical training system available. With its speed, variety and group focus encouraging competition and camaraderie, functional fitness has reinvented working out as a sport - as play. And by scaling the work outs to the capabilities of participants, functional fitness can benefit anyone from children to seniors.
The Daily Workout
The core of the offerings at the Buena Vida Fitness Centre is the planned daily workout. Each day a trainer will lead participants through a different daily workout. Scheduled several times a day, these high energy workouts can be completed, from warm up to final stretch, in less than an hour. A constantly varied combination of cardiovascular exercise and/or weight training and/or body weight exercises; the daily workout challenges the participant mentally, as well as physically, and forces the body to continually adapt and improve.
Competitions and special events throughout the calendar are planned as entertainment and community development for members, as well as opportunities to benchmark fitness gains.
